This month, OleumTech® announced the exciting introduction of its General Purpose (GP) Wireless Sensor Network Platform for non-hazardous environments.

The GP Platform is based on our traditional Class I, Division 1 platform for hazardous environments but introduces lower cost transmitters designed specifically for broader Internet of Things (IoT) adoption. The new platform offers customers a highly scalable solution to easily monitor and control any process measurement variable, including pressure, flow, level, and temperature, just to name a few. The new platform is the same great robust, industrially-hardened products you have come to know and expect from OleumTech, just now available in a general purpose offering for non-hazardous environments.

The GP Platform offers multiple Wireless Gateway options where sensor data from the wireless transmitters is aggregated and interfaces directly with third-party controllers (i.e. PLC, RTU, etc.) or connected to a communications network (cellular, satellite, or private radio) for delivering data to SCADA systems or to the cloud to perform analytics. The transmitters can either be externally powered or battery-powered, providing a completely self-contained option with up to 10 years of battery life. With available frequency options at 868 MHz, 900 MHz, and 2.4 GHz to cover country specific regulations and spectral diversity considerations, they can be deployed world-wide and with its IP66 rating, be able to handle extreme, harsh outdoor conditions from -40˚ to 80˚C.
