Vapor Pressure Measurement

Monitoring vapor pressure in oil and gas storage tanks is essential for safety, whether the tanks have fixed roofs or floating roofs. Fixed roof tanks have set vapor pressure limits to prevent explosions. When gasoline or crude oil is removed, the empty space is filled with vapor, which must be carefully monitored to manage pressure. In floating roof tanks, high vapor pressure can create bubbles beneath the roof, risking the potential overturn of the roof.

OleumTech Resistive Tank Level Sensors and Smart Pressure Transmitters together provide reliable, accurate measurement of liquid levels and vapor pressure inside crude oil storage tanks. The Tank Level Sensors monitor the product and interface levels as well as the temperature of the liquid, while the Smart PTs serve as a vital safety measure by monitoring the pressure exerted by vapors above the liquid surface, thus preventing hazardous conditions like over-pressurization that could lead to tank ruptures or leaks.
